Overview
What needs review for Stainless Steel?
Stainless steel selection depends on the actual exposure, material condition and component function. A stainless designation alone does not guarantee performance in every environment.
Engineering considerations
- Define fluid, cleaning-agent and temperature exposure before choosing between grades such as 304, 316L or 17-4 PH.
- Identify heat-treatment condition where relevant, exact material specification and required certificate information.
- Review burrs, surface texture, passivation requirements and the dimensional acceptance of sealing or mating surfaces.
